Subsidies

Settling In: Since children have highly individual needs, we will customize the settling in process to the needs of your child.

Day Care: The regular day care will start after your child has successfully gone through the familiarization process.

The city of Zurich pays for a part of the Nursery place, depending on the amount of your income.

On www.stadt-zuerich.ch you can find all the relevant information about subsidies. Please fill in the relevant information including the “Beitragsfaktorbestätigung” and the “Bestätigung des subventionsberechtigten Betreuungsumfangs”. We need  both these  forms to be able to offer you a subsidized place.

In Affoltern we are only a few meters away from the bus stops “Althoos” and “Neuaffoltern”.

Each child begins his or her individual settling-in period in separate short stages and accompanied by a parent, staying longer stage after stage depending on how he or she feels, slowly, but steadily allowing a trustful relationshipt to form between the child, his or her parents and his or her carer. During the settling-in period the child learns, supported by his or her parents and carer, how to settle into his or her nursery group. We thank parents for taking plenty of time together with their child to settle in at our nursery. The following approach shows how we usually proceed to complete the settling-in process within about two weeks. Where a child needs more time than planned, the settling-in period can always be extended.

1st step: Initial stage (1 to 3/4 days)
2nd step: Separation stage (no sooner than on the 4th day)
3rd step: Stabilization stage (4 to 8 days)
4th step: Final stage (on the 9th and 10th day)

During the initial stage (first to third day of settling in), the child and his or her parents are not separated. The parents and their child are on the nursery’s premises together, familiarizing themselves with the new environment and becoming acquainted with the carers. The first, about 15-minute only, separation takes place on the fourth day at the earliest. Only after the final stage has been completed will the child stay in the nursery’s care throughout the day. The settling-in period ends only after the child has established a firm relationship with his or her personal carer. This process takes more than two weeks to complete. The consolidation of this relationship is an ongoing process that takes place every day at the nursery, until complete confidence has been established. After three months, parents and carers meet to review and analyze the child’s progress; this exchange of information and opinions also helps us in our ongoing efforts to offer the best settling-in period possible.

We are open from 07:00 to 18:30 from Monday to Friday.

We offer all preschool and kindergarten age children supplementary all-day care on the basis of a comprehensive and clear care concept – irrespective of gender, nationality and creed.

A solid educational foundation

Our main concern: We provide room and establish a framework for your child’s well-being, offering him or her familiar activities and rituals in a world of security, joy and inspiration that give him or her a sense of safety and appreciation and that are indispensable for his or her healthy, self-determined development. Doing this, we listen to your child’s needs, responding to them individually, and in accordance with his or her development stage.

Close cooperation with the parents

There can be no childcare without a trustful atmosphere characterized by mutual respect. That is why in this process, you, the parents, are our most important partners. We appreciate your feedback, and we pay attention to your wishes and your child’s individual needs. Also, we regularly provide you with comprehensive updates on his or her well-being and progress – as well as on our care work. In return, we thank you for respecting our day care nursery’s rules as well. Our rules are comprehensive, guarantee your child’s well-being and cover all aspects of progressive all-day care.

Yes, our annual schedule forms the basis of our daily work with the kids. Our distinguishing features include, in addition to our areas of learning in our day-to-day practice, which are freely available, and “BULG” education (educational and learning stories), our daily strolls and forest outings, where we follow our motto: “Let the kids experience on their own how in spring the flowers come out of hibernation, how in summer the butterflies dance above the meadows in full bloom, how in fall/autumn the trees shed their multicolored leaves, and how in winter everything outside is covered in white castor sugar.”

“BuLg” (Educational and learning stories) is a resource-driven observation and documentation concept which serves as a work tool for child daycare professionals to identify the children’s interests and abilities and to guide and support them in their learning efforts.

We offer the kids seven areas of learning which they can use at their discretion.

  • Exercise, body and health
  • Nature and technology
  • Social and cultural environment
  • Music and rhythm
  • Building and construction
  • Math basics
  • Creativity

In our areas of learning, each child is given the opportunity to follow his or her own needs and strengths, thus establishing his or her own learning processes.

We always strive to support the children in our care in their learning processes and abilities – by placing seven areas of learning at their free disposal. Each of these areas enables the kids to manage their own learning processes by allowing them to focus on their individual needs and strengths.

Our 7 areas of learning:

  • Exercise, body and health

We have furnished all of our rooms with child-friendly materials and furniture to ensure that the kids can pursue their activities independently. The materials in each area of learning are regularly updated according to the children’s changing interests and needs.

All our meals are prepared fresh daily. It is our aim to provide your child with a varied, healthy and seasonal diet.
